Planes Trains and Buses
We are located almost half way between Sydney (111km) and Newcastle (82.9km) Airports.
Sydney International Airport has a train line that runs directly into the city from the domestic terminal. From the domestic terminal you will need to change trains at Central Station. Look for the country lines above ground platforms 1 to 13. Our closest station is Tuggerah which will take around 2 hours travel time.
From Newcastle Domestic Airport it's a similar 2 hour journey however a bus will service your trip from the airport to Cardiff Train Station where you can link up with a country train to Tuggerah.
From Tuggerah Train Station buses operate direct to the The Entrance frequently (15km). Our hostel is a 80m walk from the bus terminal at Lakeside Plaza.
A great website to use for public transport and trip planning is https://transportnsw.info/. Enter your starting location and "The Entrance" as your destination and it will plan your trip for you with all public transport options and fare prices.
Taxi's and Uber
Taxi's can be expensive on the Central Coast as our region is very spread out but for short trips or when public transport isn't accessible they are always handy. Our local Taxi service is Central Coast Taxi's. For groups they have larger 'maxi taxis' to carry up to 11 people. You can book Central Coast Taxi's online via their website https://centralcoasttaxis.com.au/.
Uber is quiet efficient in this area although on peak evenings and depending on the time of year can be stretched as with the taxi's. Download the Uber app to book.
Private Car, Bike or Camper
From both Sydney (south) and Newcastle (north), the M1 Motorway passes through the Central Coast. The Tuggerah Interchange is the best and simplest exit to communicate here however I would recommend if you have a maps app, type in our address (or The Entrance Backpackers if you are using Google Maps) and this should guide you to the best exit (from Newcastle it may recommend Warnervale).
From the Tuggerah exit turn left onto Wyong Road and follow that all the way through until a large round-a-bout at Shelly Beach where you will filter left before the round-a-bout onto The Entrance Road or Central Coast Hwy. This will take you straight into The Entrance.
We have a free open air carpark directly behind our building in Theatre Lane. Turn right at the Lakeside Plaza lights and then first left into Theatre Lane. Note that early Sunday morning the Lions Club have a market on this carpark and it is requested that your car be relocated to the roadside parking after 6pm Saturday (free roadside parking after 6pm and free on Sundays).
To enter the hostel you must walk through the mall and to the front of the building.
